Flower power
In Batlagundi, a small village in Dindigul district, a woman finds hope amid a painful situation. After the death of her husband to HIV/AIDS, she stood alone, with a 10-year old child, without any skills to earn a living. Murugeshwari (name changed) turned to SSH for help. After joining our training programme, she learnt the different trades and the availability of the credit facility.
Colouring her life
A loan of Rs.10,000 given by SSH coloured her life positively. Today Murugeshwari sells flowers, making a small profit. “My income can be little, but that gives me dignity. I am independent. I can educate my son – which is so important to me. SSH’s help paved the way for my son and me to foresee a better future,” says a smiling 42-year old Murugeshwari while her hands busily tie jasmine flowers.
